Art's Club: Recycled Bouquets

From first dates to golden anniversaries, every inch of Central Park (the subject of Bill Lyons photography exhibit) has facilitated some stage of romance for more than one hundred years. We'll take this inspiration to make flower bouquets from recyclable materials.

Art's Club: Magnifying Masterpieces

Choose a painting from the Mini Masterpiece exhibition, select a l" section that appeals to you and magnify it into a large drawing with colored pencils. We' II see who can match the drawings to the paintings at the end of class!

Art's Club: Yarn Masterpiece
Save the Date: Apr 16, 2022

Choose a painting from the Mini Masterpieces exhibition and sketch it on cardstock. Then use colored yarn to replace the brushstrokes. You'll learn how colors interact beside each other and how objects are broken down into simple shapes.

Art's Club: Beyond the Frame
Save the Date: May 21, 2022

Choose a painting that intrigues you from the annual Hoyt Regional. What is happening in the visual story? What can you see and what can't you? Copy what you see on half the canvas, then expand the inage with what you've imagined on the remaiing section.

Linocut Printmaking Workshop: Winter 2022

The Orff approach, developed by German composer Carl Orff, is a method of teaching children music that engages their minds and bodies through a mixture of singing, dancing, acting, and the use of percussion instruments. Unique to this class will be the use of both unpitched (tambourines, drums, bells/triangles) and pitched instruments (xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels). A key characteristic of this approach is that lessons are presented with an element of play, which helps the children learn at their own level of understanding. Capacity: 12. Minimum: 5.

Claymation Animation: Winter 2022

Claymation is essentially stop motion animation using clay to create your characters and develop your storyline. Professional filmmaker, Tom Stoops, will lead students through the process of developing a character and storyline, the use of green screens, cameras, and editing. At the end of the course, the students will have a finished ‘short’ to share! Capacity: 8. Minimum: 6.
