Explore the use of color to express ideas and feelings in abstract paintings in the galleries. Then create your own abstract expression in the classroom using watercolors, tape & markers.
Explore the annual Mini Masterpiece exhibition and discuss the difference of viewing these works in miniature as opposed to full scale. Imagine the difference in trying to fill a gallery space. We'll make a room you can fill with chosen images.
Choose your favorite still life from the current exhibit and substitute one of the objects with something you like better in a quick drawing. Then head to the classroom to paint a still life from scratch. You may bring your favorite objects from home!
Tour the annual Hoyt Regional looking for examples of printmaking. Reduce your favorite artwork to a line drawing then head back to the classroom to use it to make a styrofoam printing plate to produce prints.
