Artist and Illustrator, Alphonse Mucha (1860-1930), was one of the Freemasons of Czechoslovakia’s most active members, designing seals, letterhead, and diplomas for honorary members. He supported their activities financially and intellectually, preparing Czech Masonic nomenclature, the statutes, and translations of the French-language ceremony of ‘bringing to light’. This workshop will explore the masonic symbols that found their way into his work before inviting students to illustrate a letter of the alphabet in his distinct style. Instruction includes the opportunity to draw, paint and apply gold leaf to your finished piece. All supplies included.
