JOCELYN BEATTY: Jocely Beatty studied art at Edinboro University before working as an architectural draftsman. She began pursuing a full time career in painting over two decades ago and has taught at the Hoyt Institute for more than 20 years. She is the first woman to take 1st place in the PA Game Commission’s Duck Stamp contest. KATE BURKE: Graduate of the Art Institute of Boston, Kate Burke has worked in public art for 25 years. As both a painter and a relief carver, her works can be found in public, private, and coprorate collections in Minneapolis, Boston, and beyond.
JACK CARLTON: Jack Carlton received his MFA from the Museum School/ Tuft University in Boston. He teaches at Youngstown State University and Hiram College.
RICHARD DIGIA: Richard DiGia has his degrees from Westminster College and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and brings 27 years experience in advertising and design. He is adjunct professor at Geneva College and has taught at Westminster College and the Butler Institute of American Art.
SYLVIA EWEN: Slyvia Ewen has been a certified instructor by the PA Ceramic Guild for over 25 years. She is skilled with both adults and children.
DENISE MURPHY-GERBER: Denise Murphy-Gerber is a local stained glass artisan from New Wilmington, PA. Denise is an Associate Professor of Business at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. She specializes in the copper foil method of stained glass.
MARY ANN GOUZE: Mary Ann Gouze brings 30 years of professional writing experience to the Hoyt with published works in many women’s magazines including Ladies Home Journal and Woman’s Day, True Story, and numerous religious magazines. Her work is both fiction and non-fiction and she has just finished her first novel.
ADRIENNE GRAFTON: Adrienne Grafton earned her BFA from Edinboro University and her MFA in Metal Design from East Carolina University. She won the Judy Cheteyan Education Scholarship from the Society for Contemporary Craft in 2004 and has taught metals workshops at Miami University of Ohio, the Society of Contemporary Craft, Pullen Art Center in Raleigh, the College of Albemarie in Manteo, and Edinboro University.
BRIAN HARTMAN: Brian Hartman studied wines in California and at the George Dubeuf in France. He is founder of the Wine Society at the Allegheny Country Club and Organizer of numerous wine festivals. He is a representative for Majestic Wines.
NANCY HAWKINS: Nancy Hawkins studied at Fort Wayne Art Institute before receiving her BFA in painting and drawing from Kent State University. She is an active exhibitor and member of the Ohio Plein Air Society from which she won “Best of Show” in 2009.
PAULA JASPER: Paula has her MFA from the University of Memphis and is currently a rostered artist with the PA Council on the Arts.
JESSE KATRENCIK: Jesse Katrencik is a native Pittsburgher and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. a lifelong photographer with a background in architecture, he now resides in New Castle and has extensively photographed the area. Katrencik exhibits his work regionally.
DIANNE KOZYRO: Dianne Kozyro received her Bachelor of Music from the D’Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst College. A soprano, she has received numerous awards including the “Semper Fidelis” Award for Excellence in Voice, and the Medal of Excellence in Music from Venango Christian High School. In 1999, Dianne was selected as an adjudicator of the PA Federation of Music Clubs Competion and the Junior Festival for piano.
NANCY SONTICH-LENHART: Nancy Lenhart received a BA in Art from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. She continued her studies at Youngstown State University working as a studio assistant in the ceramics department. She owns a private studio in Struthers, OH and has been teaching ceramics at the Hoyt Institute for over twenty years.
DR. PETER MANCINO: Dr. Mancino has been engaged in the practice of Graphoanalysis for over 30 years. He received his training from the Institute of Graphoanalysis in Chicago and remains an active member. Dr. Mancino is an expert witness for the Lawrence County Court system and a frequent area lecturer
KEVIN MCLATCHY: Kevin McLatchy received a Studio Diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. There McLatchy taught painting and drawing for over 12 years. His work has been exhibited at Boston Symphony Hall, the Compton Gallery at MIT, the Erie Art Museum, the Fitchburg Art Museum, and various academic and private galleries throughout the NE.
TOM MCNICKLE: Volant native Thomas G. McNickle is a nationally acclaimed painter in watercolor and oils. A former arts educator, McNickle continues to exhibit and conduct workshops across the country. He is represented by the Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC and James Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA among others. ALYSSA PESAVENTO: Alyssa Pesavento is a highly accomplished Harpist who received an MA from Kent State. she has taught extensively at universities and privately. Her performances includes solos, festivals, and events.
KEN SCAVNICKY: Ken Scavnicky has been a professional dancer and dance instructor for over 40 years. He toured with the Fred Astaire Ballroom Dancers globally for 22 years.
MICHAEL STEPHENS: Michael stephens has extensive experience working with metals. He is a member of the Craftsman Guild of Pittsburgh, the AAP, the Pittsburgh Society of Artists, and the Hoyt Art Association. He has been a part of exhibitions at the Warhol Museum, the Butler Institute and the Hoyt Mid-Atlantic. He recently received the Michigan Art Council’s Award of Excellence.
JAMES URBANIC: James Urbanic has been carving decoys for more than 15 years and has successfully competed in numerous competitions. His awards have included Blue Ribbon and Best of Show at the Wards World Championships in Ocean City, MD.
